There are both good and bad reasons for that.

The bad reason for the popularity of the AIP diet is that autoimmune disease is on the rise.  The incidents of things like Crohn's, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Graves, IBS, and more, have been increasing (source).

The good reason for the popularity of the AIP diet is that people are trying to find more natural ways to support their bodies as they deal with autoimmune conditions.

The AIP Diet

The AIP (autoimmune paleo) Diet removes foods that have been known to aggravate the health of those with autoimmune conditions. If one remove those foods, the body can calm down.

Basically, this is a diet free of grains, nightshades, nuts, seeds, dairy, and eggs.

Most people who are allergic know they are, however, people newer to the food allergy community, might not.

    1. Hi Oneika!

Thanks for reading and for commenting. My understanding is that it’s not classified as a tree nut in the food allergy world. But some think it is. Could you see this and tell me what you think and where you are getting this information? https://acaai.org/allergies/types/food-allergies/types-food-allergy/tree-nut-allergy

My son has tree nut allergies but he can have macadamias and almonds, which is great. I hope to add more to his diet when we can!
