Of course in the midst of all the delicious food, it’s important to remember the reason for the celebrating. We honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. Freedom that does seem to be slipping away more and more, but their sacrifice still should be honored and remembered.

Remembering My Father In Law
My father in law served in Korea. He has passed away, but our memories of his war stories live on. My youngest was just going through his military awards the other day, particularly thrilled that his Grandpa had received one of the most prestigious awards, the Combat Infantryman Badge. When finding this medal he said “I never knew I was related to someone so important!”
Grandpa used to tell us the story of how he awoke from sleeping one night to the sight of a North Korean soldier with a bayonet at his neck. He startled and screamed and the soldier ran away!
It’s so wonderful for my son to know the legacy of those who went before him and for us to honor them as well.
