  1. You KNOW i love these!! i was thinking of you on the way to gym this morning, hoping you are feeling better and getting somewhere with your diet tweaks. I am still working out 4-5 days a week, and eating less (although still not as strict as I could be!). I am OK with the slow boat, it’s mostly age, and the fact I enjoy eating too much to consume just diet food! Anyways, I wanted to let you know i was thinking of you!

    • Hi Tessa and thanks so much for thinking of me! I am feeling better – I think about 3 pounds have come off – no scale so I’m not sure. No grains almost at all and it’s making a difference. Made the Almond joy Bars this week, however and am having a rough time keeping out of them. :-). Take care!

  2. Heading over to take a look! I guess I missed trad tues again this week–bean so busy… Hope things are easing up for you!
    cheers,
    Ela

  3. Wow, I love almond joy! You should not have shared these because I will be making them now! So, which one is your actual blog? Are you just guest posting on the Balanced Platter?

    • Hi and welcome, Maria! My blog is Whole New Mom. I am a contributing writer with The Balanced Platter – it’s a joint effort of a number of healthy bloggers. You can see more info on their contributing writers page. Hope to see you around again!

  4. These look delicious! I enjoyed the rest of the post too, and commented on it over at The Balanced Platter. Thank you for sharing this with the Gallery of Favorites!

  6. Adrienne I think I found another site to bookmark! Balanced platter is amazing!! Kudos on your guest post! As always you are truly a healthy alternative recipe visionary!! Can’t wait to try my hand at the bars!

    • Thanks, Kenda! It really is a nice site. I have followed a few of the ladies there for awhile. Thanks for the encouragement. Unless things change I will be posting there monthly. Hope you like the bars!

  7. Yummy. This recipe looks just delicious. I must try it. Come visit us. We have an awesome molten cocoa cake today.

  8. what a great site. Being allergic to gluten, dairy, eggs and having candida (so no sugar) is really difficult. Your blog has just made my life a little easier. Thanks:)

  9. I just discovered your blog a couple of months ago,and then lost it and have been so excited to find it again! I love how it is healthy AND you have a frugal bent! We are gluten and dairy free and I am sugar free due to some health issues, but I don’t have a very big income, so your blog is a blessing!

    • Hi Melissa! Glad you found me again! We’re in similar boats I guess, eh? If you care to please share what is going on health wise. I am dealing with my own issues so I need to be careful how much I blog (whether or not I have the health issues I need to be careful anyway – family first, you know), but I do hope to cover more health issues going forward. We’re single income as well here :-). Take care!

      • Adrienne,

I have chronic neutropenia. So I don’t have enough neutrophils (white blood cells). I’ve been eating pretty healthy, and have seen a local chiropractor/nutritionist as well, and taken some vitamins, organ stuff(spleen, adrenal, thymus, etc), in addition to Carnivora, and astragalus. Any thing you might know would be welcome! I also did the anti-candida diet for awhile, and have not had sugar since. :)

        • Hmmm… I don’t know anything about but I’ve forwarded your info to my practitioner. Do you for sure have candida? If so heavy metals are often implicated. I for sure am battling them. Feel free to ask me again if you donl’t hear back from me.

        • Hi Melissa.

I just heard back from my practitioner. She said that blood issues are commonly comingled with adrenal burnout. You may wish to look into this further. I’ll be sharing more about my experiences soon. I just officially came out of burnout. If you have burnout and metal toxicity then supplements (the wrong vitamins and minerals, specifically) can make it worse.

          • Oh thank you, Adrienne! That is so sweet of you to look into this for me. I have been taking quite a bit of a good adrenal supplement since June, and I will look into the adrenal issue more to see what all I can do. I am really curious what vitamins might be counteracting what I’m trying to do here. Thank you so much for taking interest in me, a complete stranger to you!

            • You’re welcome! I really feel that so many people are struggling with issues and not getting answers – so that’s the main reason for what I am doing. In my mind, the main culprits would be minerals like copper especially. It all depends on what your current situation is. I have one friend w/ adrenal issues who was really struggling until she went off her supplements. Of course that doesn’t mean all people will react the same, but it is worth thinking about. Take care!
