Are you wondering if smart meters are safe? Trying to sort through the claims about smart meter dangers? Here is information you should know about the potential risks involved with these meters and how they might affect your health and privacy.

Heard about Smart Meters and how great they are supposed to be? Think again. The Electric Companies say that Smart Meters will save you money and that they are safe. But there's more to the story than meets the eye. Find out the real truth here.Pin

We've had to go against the norm many times in our quest for better health. I've gone sugar free, gluten freestopped eating foods my breastfeeding son was allergic to, and have tried all kinds of natural treatments in order to avoid antibiotics and other meds when dealing with conditions such as sinus issues and earaches.

Now I'm not getting a smart meter.

Why not?

If it's “smart”, it must be a good thing, right?

Well, when I was younger, I was called smart in school. Most of the time it was a compliment. Well, sometimes it wasn't but my mom told me those kids were jealous. It didn't feel like it but in hindsight I think she was right.

Anyways, in most cases you'd like to be the smart kid in class.

And when people say “you look smart” they mean you look nice.

(I guess folks say “sweet” and such these days…..but that's beside the point.)

So how about a Smart Meter? Are smart meters safe?

Must be a good thing.

Think again.

There are a lot of smart meter dangers that you need to know about.

I got a notice in my mailbox about 3 weeks ago stating:

YOUR UPGRADED METER IS COMING.

ENERGY THAT WORKS SMARTER FOR YOU.

THAT'S OUR PROMISE TO MICHIGAN.

and another letter than said something like (this one I must have thrown out):

Congratulations! Smart Meters will be coming to your neighborhood in the near future.

I guess that's supposed to make me feel good about this Smart Meter coming to my house.

But I am not.

I'd heard about smart meters, but I didn't know much about them so I started to poke around.

It's not typical for me to be excited about some technology thingamabob being added to my home without my knowing anything about it.

I didn't like what I found.

Now let me tell you the truth. (Not that I typically–or ever–lie to you all or anything.)

I read A LOT. And I talked to a bunch of folks on the phone.

And I spent a lot of time emailing experts about smart meter dangers and EMFs (one who wrote a post that I will share here soon).

I read articles on both sides of the topic and I even called my electric company several times.

Today's post is the result of my having digested all of these conversations and emails.

And I've come to the conclusion that–

I DON'T WANT A SMART METER ON MY HOME.

And neither should you.

First of all, let's talk about what a Smart Meter (NOT a good name for this thing, by the way) is:

What is a Smart Meter?

A Smart Meter (also called AMI or AMR) is a type of meter designed to eliminate meter readers (can you say “more unemployment”?). It's a fairly expensive piece of wireless machinery that send information about your energy use (how much you are using at different times of the day) to your utility company.

They relay data about your energy.

Proponents of these meters say that they will be used to show consumers how much energy they use at certain times of day and that they will help them budget their energy use (and therefore money) better.

Opponents say there are many risks involved.

After doing literally tens of hours of research, I've come to the conclusion that:

I DO NOT WANT A SMART METER ON MY HOME!!

Here's why.

7 Smart Meter Dangers

1.  Health

There are sooo many health problems with these smart meters.

Basically we're talking about the same effects of EMFs (electromagnetic fields).

Now we all know that EMFs have been in the news a lot and that there is a lot of evidence mounting about the health risks of such radiation from microwaves, cell phones, WIFI, and the like.

In case you haven't seen some of this, or aren't convinced of it, following are some health conditions that are reported to be as a result of EMF exposure (Source)

  • Insomnia
  • Heart palpitations and blood pressure increases
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Concentration, memory or learning problems
  • Dangerous increases in blood-sugar levels
  • Strange sensations in the body—including buzzing, shooting pains
  • Anxiety and/or an anxious feeling in the body that is inexplicable
  • Fatigue
  • Flu-like symptoms

Scientists have shown that the electromagnetic frequencies emitted by smart meters and digital meters:

  • disrupt the blood-brain barrier, contributing to diseases like dementia and Parkinson’s
  • disrupt nerve transmission, causing attention-related problems, insomnia, heart palpitations, and muscle pain
  • disrupt cell reproduction and damage DNA, causing cancer and rapid aging
  • disrupt the redox balance through oxidant/nitrosative stress

And here's a biggie.

CANCER.

The World Health Organization (WHO) as classified the radiation that comes from Smart Meters as a potential carcinogen, in the same class as DDT and lead. (Source) Now, I am not always in agreement with the WHO, but in this case I am listening.

And besides, even if you think that the FCC has protected you enough with their limits on human exposure to microwave radiation, Smart Meters have been known to exceed the FCC limits.

There's been a lot of debate out there about whether or not this type of radiation (RF, or radio frequency waves) causes cancer or not, but some of the studies coming out are quite compelling. This recent one from Sweden being one of them.

I think of it like this. Years ago:

–  we were told that cigarettes were healthy (they were even promoted as a way to have a lower weight baby). We know better now.

– we were told that fluoride should be in our drinking water. That is being called into question.

– we were told that RoundUp would evaporate and not cause harm. We know better now.

It seems that these EMFs are a big deal and we are just starting to see the damage.

If you REALLY want to read some downright frightening and well-done research about EMF radiation and health problems, the BioInitiative Report will keep you busy for awhile.

For me, this is all a HUGE deal, considering that the Smart Meter would be right by my sons' bedroom.

Nice, huh?

2.  Privacy

The data collected from Smart Meters is detailed.

And it's worth money.

Think about it.

Data is ALWAYS worth money. Companies pay BIG money for information on your buying habits, for your email address, and more.

Technically, according to one of the Smart Meter experts I talked with, Smart Meters could track what TV shows you watch, and potentially what food you eat, if your refrigerator is equipped with “Smart” technology. The fridge could scan your Ben and Jerry's and potentially report this to healthcare corporations. Perhaps it's a good idea to start making your own Homemade Ice Cream!

YIKES!

These are the potential privacy concerns regarding Smart Meters (Source):

Identity Theft
Determine Personal Behavior Patterns
Determine Specific Appliances Used
Perform Real-Time Surveillance
Reveal Activities Through Residual Data
Targeted Home Invasions (latch key children, elderly, etc.)
Provide Accidental Invasions
Activity Censorship
Decisions and Actions Based Upon Inaccurate Data
Profiling
Unwanted Publicity and Embarrassment
Tracking Behavior Of Renters/Leasers
Behavior Tracking (possible combination with Personal Behavior Patterns)
Public Aggregated Searches Revealing Individual Behavior

In California, the sharing of this type of data is already going on.

transparency reports filed by the California utilities companies and obtained by the ACLU of California show that a significant amount of data about the energy use of Californians is also ending up in the hands of third parties.  In 2012, a single California utility company, San Diego Gas & Electric, disclosed the smart meter energy records of over 4,000 of its customers.

Interestingly enough, there is a BIG movement in California against Smart Meters, while Marin County has criminalized the installation of Smart Meters.

Perhaps this is a smart response?

Yes, modern conveniences can help with some things, but are we trading our freedom for convenience?

We really need to count the cost.

3.  Fire Risk

There have been hundreds of fires caused by Smart Meters.

You can see some of the horrible photos and information about smart meter fires here, here, and here.

I have not been able to find a source of analog meters causing fires. Additionally, here is a quote from Mindy Spatt of TURN (The Utility Reform Network) regarding analog fires:

Comparing analog to the new meters, she added, “In the collective memory of TURN, we have not seen similar incidents with analog meters.”

In fact, if you do an internet search of “fires caused by analog meters,” all that shows up is report after report of Smart Meter fires.

Moreover, here's something you might be surprised to hear: Most (if not all) Smart Meters are NOT UL Certified.

Now, how smart is that?

Which begs the question – if your house causes fire due to one of these meters, will your homeowners insurance pay for it since the device is not UL certified? I called my homeowners' insurance company to find out.

They told me that in my case, my insurance would NOT be cancelled, but that if a fire were to be caused by the meter, they would go after the utility company for reimbursement.

They did advise, however, that every insurance company is different, so you should check with your homeowners' carrier to find out their stance on this issue.

4.  Lack of Energy Savings

These Smart Meters are supposed to save us money.

Well, none of this savings has been proven, and in fact, there are some pretty important people saying that they think the savings simply aren't going to happen. (Source)

– “It costs too much, and we're not sure what good it will do.” – John Rowe, CEO of Illinois utility ComEd.
– “[Smart meter] deployment . . . allows utilities to lower operating costs while increasing revenues.” – Frost & Sullivan
– “No net economic benefit to ratepayers.” Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette
(yea for my home state!)
Smart-meter conversion represents little more than a boondoggle that is being foisted on consumers by the politically influential companies that make the hardware and software that are required for the smart-meter conversion.” – Consumers Digest

In one poll I read, (site seems to be having trouble so link was removed) about 1/3 of the people who had Smart Meters installed had an increase in energy costs, and one quarter saw their costs double, triple, or more.

This article talks about one citizen who found much higher bills as well.

Hmmm…doesn't sound so good now, does it?

5.  Personal Safety

Something to consider–if this data tells what electricity you are or aren't using, couldn't hackers get this information and know whether or not you are home or whether your kids are home alone?

Seems like a valid concern.

Our Constitution has been shredded recently by many government officials and courts.

Should we let it go even further?

So now we have utility companies forcing this technology on us that:

1.  Is a health risk
2.  Is a violation of privacy
3.  Is a fire hazard
4.  Costs too much
5.  Has no real benefit
6.  Potentially puts our personal safety at risk

Can you think of anything else that a corporation or government entity forces you to put on your house?

And you need to pay money if you don't want it?

This huge list of violations will really get you thinking.

7.  Exorbitant Cost

Check in your area how much money your utility want to charge you for not getting a Smart Meter.

Our charges in Michigan were really high and our Attorney General pressured the utilities to reduce their fees, which they did.

Now, our utility wants about $69 to opt out of the Smart Meter program, plus $9.72 a month.

Forever.

That amounts to about $120 a year for something I don't want, that:

– puts my family at risk for health issues
– seems to be a fire hazard
– violates my privacy
– quite possibly doesn't save any money (in other words, it doesn't do what it's supposed to do)
– puts our personal safety at risk
– violates the Constitution, plus comes with legal and human rights concerns
– has overpriced fees associated with not taking it

Conclusion

Whatever a smart meter is, I don't want it.

I hope to share with you what happened when I called our local electric company and told them that I didn't want their “Smart Meter.”

Seriously, instead of calling it a Smart Meter, I think I'll call it a “Dumb Meter” or “Invasive Meter” or “Cancer Causing Big Brother Technology Doohickey.”

So now the questions are:

1.  I don't want a Smart Meter. What should I do next?

2.  I have a Smart Meter already. What can/should I do?

I hope to tackle all of these questions, including:

– sharing with you what happened to me when I contacted my local electric utility and told them I didn't want a Smart Meter
– what I have done about Smart Meters coming to my neighborhood
– what I am planning to do

I hope you all will help get the word out. Even if you have a Smart Meter installed, it's not too late.

Protect Yourself from EMFs

I will be adding some different options for protecting yourself from the damaging effects of EMFs.

1. Limit EMF Exposure

One thing that our family does is limit EMF exposure as much as possible. We still have some work to do but we love the protective devices from DefenderShield.

defender shield logo

We use their Cell Phone Cases & Laptop Shields and I feel so much better knowing that we are protecting ourselves this way.

2.  Know Your Risks

It's a great idea to have an EMF Meter to measure different devices and areas of your home.

Here are two options:

This EMF meter was recommended to me by a blogger friend who is very concerned about such things and seems like a great option. It's mentioned by a lot of people as being a solid model.

I Recommend

TriField EMF Meter Model TF2

This EMF meter is the one we have in our home. It's a bit more expensive than some, but it's the one most often recommended by EMF specialists.

It measures not only radiation from 4G and 5G, but also from Cell Towers, WiFi routers, Bluetooth, AC Powerlines, and Smart Meters.

Here's a more affordable option that has great reviews as well. One of my friends has it and really likes it.

I Recommend

ERICKHILL EMF Meter

This meter doesn't do as much as the Trifield meter, but it's a good option for those who want a more affordable option for evaluating EMFs.

Hopefully you don't have a smart meter, or if you do, you can get it removed from your house. If you can't, here's a Smart Meter Shield to help protect you from the EMFs it's emitting.

4. Get a Router Shield

Your WiFi router is one of the strongest sources of WiFi in your home. A router shield like this one can help shield you from EMFs while allowing your router to work.

5. Consider Eco-friendly Routers and More

This company has some highly regarded more eco-friendly routers, baby monitors, and more. A great option for reducing exposure in your home.

6. Reduce the Effects of EMFs

woman wearing magnetude jewelry

What if your jewelry could counteract the effects of EMFs?

This LOVELY interchangeable jewelry addresses the energy depletion of cells that comes from EMFs and even possibly repels mosquitos to boot! The pieces look amazing (the online photos of the individual products don't do them justice.

I love the Zen base, this base, and this bracelet. They have women, men, children, and pet pieces too.

The Boxed Sets are a great way to get started and save.

My oldest notices he's sleeping better with them, my youngest has noticed that his hands don't bother him anymore when he's on a device, and I have a lot more energy.

Comment or reach out at adrienne {at} wholenewmom {dot} com if you need any help picking things out. Also if you order on Party 550, I will be doing a drawing for a free piece.

I'll have more ways you can get involved in future posts so make sure to sign up for blog post updates so you don't miss anything.

  1. Their are way too many other frequencies out their to worry about that Smart Meter. Kinda like BPA. Well there is BPF etc like 50 different kinds. Point blank nobody escapes bisphenol. And our iPhones only cost about $160 to make. Utility company has the right the make the change. You don’t own the meters and your costing them to have someone come out and read one. They don’t need to be UL listed either. This isn’t something that plugs in to the 120volt side of your wall. And yeah if a Smart Meter did cause a fire your Utility would pick up on it. Their equipment. The utility companies don’t make electricity they deliver it and buy it and then offset the charge to you. Their money is on that delivery fee. That’s why they want to know exactly what you use. This way they don’t have to read 70,000 meters in 9 square miles and estimate when they can’t get to them all. You do pay for those estimations which can cost you more on some months then you’d typically see a price drop later.

    1. Interesting perspective. I have seen many videos showing the problems with EMF waves and so I’m not convinced that they are a good thing. It costs the utility company to make these meters too and frankly they could let us submit our own readings and only come out once a year to balance it all out. So that argument doesn’t hold water for me either.

Can you address these points, please?

  2. The source of the four comments by authorities in this article are from smartmetereducationnetwork in Michigan. I found the source articles for the first quotes by John Rowe (Chicago Tribune article by Lisa Madigan, Illinois Atty Gen.)

    https://www.chicagotribune.com/opinion/ct-xpm-2011-06-21-ct-oped-0621-madigan-20110621-story.html

and the last quote from Consumers Digest, a six page article on major cost benefit issues w smart meters

    https://www.consumersdigest.com/special-reports/why-smart-meters-might-be-a-dumb-idea

But I could not find the second and third quotes from Bill Schuette and Frost and Sullivan. I wrote Linda K, the author of smartmetereducationnetwork and asked her to reference them.

  3. We are in Medford, Oregon and just had our smart meter installed last week. Our fish and cats have not been the same since.
Since our bodies are bio-electric and consist of approx 70% water, then how can any life not be affected. Water is a conductor, so there’s nowhere to go to stop these frequencies from doing their damage.

    1. I’m so sorry – are you able to get it off your house? I just updated the post with a smart meter shield that might be of interest–it has pretty good reviews. Hope to have more options for you all in the near future!

  4. We are in SOcal. Our SM was put on the house in early 2011. Within about 3 months it had severly impacted my health.(meter right behind the wall of my room) and after multi doc visits trying to find a cuase of sudden onset of health issues I decided to try getting rid of the smart meter. It was 75$ to remove it and 10$ mo charge. 3 days after it was gone my headaches stopped and the rest followed by 2 months I had no more symptoms of health issues. 5-6 years later now, much has adapted to jump on the “Smart” THING bandwagon. I dont think it will pan out for those who become aware of the issues it causes.

My friend in PHX, bless her soul, she developed grandmal seizures not 5 months after hers went on her building in 2014, she is now completely debilitated from them, I dont expect she will ever recover. I begged her to move, but she insisted it had nothing to do with the meter and really, she isnt too bright and really could not understand what i was telling her anyway.

In any case, these meters are the pilot program to test 5G(they run on 5G), they run on the same freq they are propsing to install to use for the new 5G technology for the phones.

In lamens terms its like this, equivalent of takeing yourself and walking into a microwave, close the door and micro yourself on high for 17 minutes every single day. Its old technology, it truely is, from the 50’s, which was never sanctioned for use as they now have it in use of, because of the probable ill effects.

Now, the telcos, back in the 90’s had it passed that they have full allowance (by the FCC mind you) to build out whatever network they see fit AND THEY DO NOT HAVE OT EVER ACCOUNT FOR HEALTH EFFECTD ON THE GENERAL POPULATION in order to do so.

    1. I am so sorry for what you and your friend are dealing with. I just read an article that had a link to this site in there–thought you would be interested in it: https://www.parentsforsafetechnology.org/

Do you have data on the microwave issue you brought up? That seems extreme to me. Thanks so much!

      1. Yes. Here is a link for a breif on 5G Microwave effects. https://www.naturalnews.com/2018-08-23-dr-gabriel-cousens-warns-toxic-effects-of-5g-wireless.html.

It is extreme. Thats why people are reporting issues.

        Another link of interest. https://www.lightonconspiracies.com/if-firefighters-are-concerned-about-exposure-to-cell-towers-and-antennas-maybe-everybody-should-be-5g-complaints-by-san-francisco-firefighters-are-unsettling/.

I was affected in extreme AND IT WAS NOTICABLE because i never get sick. ever. So, in my case it was HIGH Smart meter exposure 100% cause. Almost as soon as it went on the house that i am sure was the cause of my issues. And I recovered just about as fast it was gone, as soon as it was removed. I havent been sicks ince, that was a chunk of years ago now.

      2. In someone who is sick all the time it would be harder to determine I am sure.

We live out in the boonies, we dont have other peoples houses with smart meters ect…anywhere close to us. our nearest neighbor is 20-30 acers away. we are 16 miles to the nearest market. And other than that smart meter install I havent been sick in literally years.

I got strep throat one winter in 2007 random. Before that….I had a flu shot in winter 2002 that made me sick as a dog. that was my first and last one of those. before that was in high school like sophmore yr or something.

The kids are the same way, my oldest hasnt been sick since April 2010. He was 6 yo then. The other one since he was 4 Yo. We are lucky that way I guess.

So, in my case, I have been sick less than 5 times in my life since i was a kid, so when that smart meter went in and I was suddenly sick as a dog and after being tested for copius amounts of things and nothing was coming back, i just figured it had to be that thing on the house. Process of elimination, that was my only variable. In fact prior to that i had no idea about these things.

        1. I’m so sorry!! I just put an EMF meter in the post — the one I am going to buy. Do you have one yet? I think it will be a valuable tool. I’m looking into other options to mitigate exposure and hope to have another post up in the near future. Take care of yourself!!!!

  5. Smart meters do three things………
They record electricity usage for billing purposes.
They transmit that usage to the electricity supplier for billing purposes.
They track overall electricity usage for grid supply purposes.

They use simple CELL phone frequencies to transmit the electrical usage.

The do not listen through your TV, or do any of the things that the conspiracy theory/tin foil hat people say and certainly NONE of the things you list. In fact you cannot find ONE verified true scientific study to support any of your claims. You have fallen victim to internet mubojumbo from the fear monger crowd………….Even the American Cancer Society says there in NO PROOF that smart meters cause cancer. In fact, if you are so afraid of RF radiation, you better turn off your cell phone, you know the RF radiation source you hold next to your HEAD and tell everyone in your neighborhood to turn off their phones as well. Also turn off all cell towers, internet WiFi, radio station transmitters, etc.

    1. They do those things but they can do other things. That’s the point of stating that the information can be used to invade privacy.

The smart meter frequencies have been reported by many as being way higher than cell phones, plus you can’t turn it off and there are plenty of ways to mitigate cell phone frequencies.

If you think it’s a tin foil hat conspiracy then contact wired.com about it, please.

      Or Forbes. Or….

      https://www.forbes.com/forbes/welcome/?toURL=https://www.forbes.com/sites/josephsteinberg/2014/01/27/these-devices-may-be-spying-on-you-even-in-your-own-home/&refURL=https://www.google.com/&referrer=https://www.google.com/

Actually the American Cancer Society says that smart meters could cause cancer: https://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancer-causes/radiation-exposure/smart-meters.html

Because RF radiation is a possible carcinogen, and smart meters give off RF radiation, it is possible that smart meters could increase cancer risk. Still, it isn’t clear what risk, if any there might be from living in a home with a smart meter.

It would be nearly impossible to conduct a study to prove or disprove a link between living in a house with smart meters and cancer because people have so many sources of exposure to RF and the level of exposure from this source is so small. Because, the amount of RF radiation you could be exposed to from a smart meter is much less than what you could be exposed to from a cell phone, it is very unlikely that living in a house with a smart meter increases risk of cancer.

Sounds like a lot of “coulds” in there, does it not?

I don’t hold my cell near my head and I have a proven shield on it. We turn off our wifi for all devices at night including unplugging our TV. I’m going to move towards turning off the wifi completely at night and we have 1 computer hard wired and are going to do another one.

Hope that clarifies. I think about things pretty thoroughly. I’m not perfect but I’m also not stupid.

  6. I expressed my concern to the electric company. They told me I HAVE to allow them to change the meter… I can move the meter from our bedroom wall onto an existing pole near my barn or I can do away with having electric all together or except the change. I too DO NOT want this DUMB meter! They said I would be looking at somewhere around $1,500.00 to have it moved!

  7. You should really research your topic before regurgitating the factless rantings that can be found ALL over the internet. But Alex Jones and all the other conspiracy peeps would be proud of you, repeating false “scare tactic” info.

Fact: Smart Meters electronically measure the amount of electricity you use.
Fact: Smart Meters transmit that information VIA CELL PHONE frequencies, to the power company.

That is IT. Nothing more and most certainly not the laundry list of “scare tactic” items you posted. If you “afraid” of the cell phone frequencies used by Smart Meters, you better stop using your cell phone right next to your head and tell all your neighbors to turn off their phones as well. You also need to turn off all you wireless internet in your house and tell all your neighbors to do the same.

    1. Hi again.

So have you ever used an EMF meter to measure the readings of a smart meter?

I don’t use my cell phone next to my head. I have a product that protects me from the wifi. It’s high quality.

In fact, the government and cell phone companies tell us not to do it.

I have a friend who has an EMF gauge — she said that the readings coming off of her smart meter are very high and those coming off her computer are low. That being said we used to use almost all ethernet and are going to move back in that direction. Hope that helps.

      1. There is no more EMF energy coming off a STANDARD meter, compared to a Smart Meter! Maybe your friend should invest in a REAL EMF meter……….A Fluke EMF meter with a calibration tool will run you about $2000 and I would like to see you friends Master Electricians license. Meaning she has all the training necessary to read the results from her calibrated meter.

You internet “experts” make me laugh. If you are SO afraid of EMF energy, you better remove ALL in wall electrical wiring from your home ! All of that electrical wire causes EMF energy as well !

        1. Hi again, Jim. Can you tell me if one needs a license to use a EMF meters? Are they not valid? I’m seeing quite a few around that seem to be easy enough to read.

I’m not an “expert” and never say that I am. I know that wiring causes issues as well but some things we have to live with. Why add more to the pile? There’s a breaking point for everyone just like with allergies. This post an allergies being like a bucket might help you to understand the concept: https://wholenewmom.com/health-concerns/histamine-allergies-causes-histamine-intolerance/

          1. I am buying an EMF meter to see how much is coming off of different devices. People can have all kinds of credentials and be wrong. I am not right about everything but neither are all MDs or PhDs.

          2. FYI, Adrienne, I’m on your side!
But since Jim appears to be so knowledgeable, I wanted to encourage him to share his “credentials.”
Thanks for the post. Our power co.will install our meter in 1 week. I live in PA and would like to avoid it, but am not sure that’s possible. Looking forward to Part 2 of this story!

            1. I thought you might be, but I try not to make assumptions :).

I think you can do it! Read this – call them and tell them you don’t want it. You will have to stay on top of things. Opt out information is available by state I believe. Did you read the 2nd part? I’m thinking I am going to get an EMF meter and start looking into things more.

          3. Adrienne,
No, I didn’t read part 2. Can you direct me to it, please? I just bought an EMF/RF meter a couple weeks ago. I am already extremely sensitive EMFs–cannot use a cell phone or cordless phone, have to be careful with the iPad and computer…I definitely want to try to protect my health by avoiding the smartmeter. The rest of my local neighborhood had their meters installed a week ago. I managed to have installation deferred while I figure out what to do next. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement! Please let me know how I can read Part 2. Thanks!

    2. I talked to the ceo of my electric company 5 years ago before this started happening now, and she the c.e.o woman verified that she knew everything about what these meters do and she saw for herself that these meters do and will be doing in the near future if we allow them to be i stalled.

All the conspiracy things that are said about these meters the c.e.o woman of my electric company said there true so this woman that speaks of these conspiracy’s is being hounast and she’s not wrong.

  8. Your rant about Smart Meters is simple regurgitation of the “conspiracy” crowd who watches Alex Jones 24/7. You should really research FACTS before ranting and embarrassing yourself.

    1. I don’t feel embarrassed at all and I did research things. Please see the sources cited in the post. What do you disagree with exactly? I can assure you that I don’t watch Alex Jones 24/7. 🙂

      1. Well, you should feel embarrassed. For two reasons:
        1. Perpetuating a myth that has been disproven by real and factual scientific study.
        2. For copy and pasting stories you FOUND all over the internet and not doing ANY of your own research or even bothering to authenticate your information.

But you DO watch and listen to Info Wars (aka Alex Jones), don’t you ??????

        1. Hi there. I’m not embarrassed for trying to raise awareness of the issues that come from exposure to too many EMFs.

          1. What myth are you referring to?

          2. I didn’t copy and paste stories. I stated things and cited sources. That is called research. Are you saying that I should do a double blind study? Please tell me what you are expecting.

No, I don’t do either. I admit that I have watched maybe 1 whole story that Alex Jones did, and perhaps a few clips but I also read the NY Times, HuffPo, the WSJ, Forbes, and many more.

  9. “Technically, according to one of the Smart Meter experts I talked with, Smart Meters could track what TV shows you watch, and potentially what food you eat, if your refrigerator is equipped with “Smart” technology.”

Oh my god! Does your “Smart Meter expert” wear a special tin-foil hat to make him an expert? Smart meters utilize their own network connection- not to your home wifi. Without connecting to your home wifi, they can’t read what lunatic websites your visiting, or what shows you’re watching. Now, if you didn’t apply security to your wifi network, then any John Doe could jump on your home network – although the chances are it’ll just be Johnny next door, using your network to surf porn.

    1. So I’m assuming from your “name” that you won’t be getting this email but I will respond anyhow.

The issue isn’t whether the smart meter is connected to wifi or not–it’s how it is able to interpret changes in frequencies. But even if that doesn’t happen, you can read this to see what other privacy concerns there are: https://www.news.com.au/technology/online/security/experts-warn-your-smart-kitchen-appliances-are-watching-you/news-story/2edd5668551a4ecc8254bfec4df31b14

I hope that explains some of the very real concerns. There are a lot of articles on the internet about this topic.

      1. Please cite how exactly a Smart Meter interprets changes in a “frequency”, since they only transmit? Also, how would interpreting a frequency allow a Smart Meter to monitor Wifi internet. How exactly does a Smart Meter obtain those “frequencies”? Through the wiring of you home? Home wiring carries an electrical current, making it ill suited for doing much else.

An electrical engineer would pick your nonsense apart, like a buzzard on road kill ! LOL

        1. Hi Jim.

I’m happy to edit my previous comment to state that the smart meter transmits and the receiver of the frequency interprets it. I’m a very busy mom and blogger and sometimes I make a mistake. The point is that there is data to be shared and that has been documented in many places. I mentioned this article–did you happen to read it? https://www.wired.com/2012/03/petraeus-tv-remote/
