Valentine's Day is just around the corner and that means loads of chocolate and sweets galore.
To help you avoid the temptation to dive into sugar laden treats, I've rounded up an amazing grouping of Healthy Valentine's Treats from some of my blogger friends. All of them are refined sugar free and all are grain free too.
I know that some of you might need substitutions for some of the ingredients.
Since I'm on a candida diet, I need to use low carb sweeteners like stevia, xylitol and sometime erythritol. Here is my guide to How to Use Stevia. Otherwise, xylitol can be used 1:1 for regular sugar and coconut sugar has a much lower glycemic index than regular sugar so that's a better lower carb option as well.
Most of these recipes do not call for eggs, but a few do. Some of them will be harder to make a substitute, but you could try either a flax or gelatin egg, or my Powdered Egg Replacer. This post on how to make a flax egg should be helpful if you want to go in that direction.
Now on with the fabulous creations that I am sure you will be just dying to make!
Healthy Valentine's Day Desserts
These are a favorite around here. Time to make them again!
All natural coloring for the red sprinkles on these.
I have such a thing for biscotti. Can't wait to make these!
I would try to replace the dates with some sweet potato (maybe cooked down) and additional sweetener.)
(these would be hard to sub the eggs for in the crust. If you are egg free, try using this crust instead which works quite well without eggs)
So the question is - what to make first?
I know I can't figure it out - they're all so tempting!
Which is your favorite?
