Collage of 40+ Healthy Halloween Treats and Snacks

Halloween can be a lot of fun, but once all the sugar effects start coming out after the candy has been collected, things can easily become not so enjoyable.

I have fond memories of dressing up in all kinds of costumes when I was little–The purple-haired witch costume that my mom made me was my favorite.

But one this I most certainly do remember the HUGE stash of candy I would come home with, and then sitting on the living room floor sorting it all out (including sorting some of it into my mouth and stomach–yum!) But of course, that night and the next day (and the next) could get more than a little bit scary with the aftereffects of all of that sugar.

Yup, it all tastes great at the moment, but your littles (and bigs) won’t be feeling too great later on, and well, if you end up nibbling on their stash as well, you will be feeling rather ghoulish yourself too.

Instead, how about picking a few (or a lot!) of these Healthy Halloween Treats for school, for trick or treaters, or just for fun! There are some more complex recipes, as well as some easy healthy Halloween treats that you can easily whip up without much effort.

Some of the Healthy Halloween Snacks that I’ve pulled together are copycats of traditional candy bars, while others are uber healthy fall themed foods, and there are a few savory snacks mixed in.

Every recipe in this list is gluten-free. So if you’re avoiding gluten, this list of gluten-free Halloween recipes should fit the bill, most are easily made vegan and low-carb (if they aren’t already) and many are paleo too.

Betcha can’t choose just one!

Before you see the list of amazing recipes, note that many of these recipes can easily be made low carb. We eat almost all low carb, so this is always on my mind.

Sweeteners: You can use a sweetener like xylitol, erythritol, or stevia (see my tips for using stevia here).

Flour: If the recipe calls for GF flour, you can typically sub in almond flour and reduce the fat by 1/2 and double the leavening and get a pretty good result.

Marshmallows: Easily subbed with my Sugar-free Marshmallows.

Nut or Seeds: If you need to avoid nuts, sunflower or pumpkin seed butter can typically be a good substitute.

Dried Fruit: Sub in more nuts, seeds, or coconut.

Need to make another swap? Feel free to ask in the comments area and I’ll do my best to help!

    1. You are so welcome! I would love to hear what you make if you try one (or more)! I tried the Pumpkin Truffles tonight but something wonky happened with my chocolate coating so I have to do it again tomorrow. I think my cocoa butter is spoiled!

        1. Oh fun! Do let me know. Ordering more cocoa butter tomorrow and I’m on a mission after seeing candy my son got tonight. I want to make healthier versions of EVERYTHING :).
