Whole Food & Healthy Living Deals Galore! ~ June 23, 2012

I typically don’t post on the weekends, but sometimes there are some deals that are so great that I need to share them with you all.

This weekend is one of those times.

Here are some great deals going on right now to help you save on your whole foods budget:

Amazon – Madhava Sweeteners Sale

1.  One great sweetener on sale right now is Madhava Organic Coconut Sugar for only $2.96 per pound.  6 1 pound packages for only $17.65 with Amazon’s Subscribe and Save option.

This is an amazing deal and a great way to try a new sweetener!

2.  Another is Madhava Organic Light Agave – $16.95 for 2 46 ounce bottles.  This is quite a deal.  My local co op’s price for this volume would be $23.88.  Even if you purchased the 11# bottle of agave from my co op, the price would still be $18.90.  If you use agave, I’d jump on this deal :-) !

There are other deals on Madhava Agave on Amazon as well, but this is one of the best ones.  If you don’t like the larger bottles, pour the agave into a smaller bottle to store in your cabinet!

There is some controversy over agave in the natural foods world.  I personally don’t use it just because we are opting for completely sugar free sweeteners (those that don’t feed candida, that is), but some of the information that I have heard about agave points to it not being as bad as many say.

If you are using it, or would like to try it, this is an amazing price.

A number of Madhava’s sweeteners are on sale so you can poke around on Amazon a bit to see what else they have available to you.

And if you’re wondering about how to use alternative sweeteners, you can check out my post on Substituting Sweeteners in Cooking and Baking for some tips.

For those of you who haven’t used Amazon’s Subscribe and Save option, you just sign up for a regular delivery of any item (from a monthly to every 6 month delivery subscription) and you receive 15% off of the regular price.

You can go back in to your Amazon account at any time and cancel the repeat deliveries, unless you decide that you want them.

Coconut Sugar is one of the sweeteners that has the lowest glycemic indexes around.  Its glycemic index (how eating it affects your blood sugar) is about 30 (whereas honey has a glycemic load of about 100).  It looks like and acts like brown sugar and is a really nice alternative for those of you looking to make the move from regular sweeteners to a more “low or no sugar” lifestyle.  I’ll hopefully be sharing more about alternative sweeteners in the near future.

Vitacost

Vitacost Deal

If you missed my post on Vitacost and all the great savings going on right now, you should really check it out.  Vitacost regularly has good deals on loads of items, but right now they have some truly amazing deals on tons of products.  See my post on Up to 65% off Whole Foods and Healthy Living Products.  Vitacost is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to get quality whole foods and supplements.

And you can get $10 off your first order by using this link.

If you’re not a first time orderer with Vitacost, I would very much appreciate your starting your shopping here.  I am an affiliate and your clicking through links on my blog help support this ongoing free resource for you!

Some of the great deals right now include:

Tinkyada Brown Rice Spaghetti -

16 oz for only $2.29.  This brand is rumored to be the best GF pasta that there is.  And it’s regularly $3.49 or so in the stores.  I always check the labels on GF pasta to make sure we are getting whole grain.  If you are on a gluten free diet, it really isn’t a good idea to be pumping refined flours into your system which is already compromised.

Kirk’s Castille Soap -50% off at $.99.

This is a real all natural soap that you can use as is or make your own liquid castille soap.  I haven’t tried this yet but check out my friend Andrea Fabry’s video tutorial for making liquid castille soap.  I drooled over her super huge kitchen in this video.

Andrea and her family have an amazing story about mold issues in their home and their lives.  Pour yourself a cup of my coffee substitute and get ready to be shocked and to probably shed some tears if you decide to poke around her website.  I have listened to Andrea and her husband, Chris, on Moody Radio for ummm….I don’t want to think of how many years it’s been.  So I really feel like they are old friends.
