Is your shampoo making you sick?
Maybe.
I’ve been thinking a lot about personal care products and the nasty chemicals in them.
Come on over to The Better Mom where I am sharing some kind of scary thoughts about hair products–
and what to do to make your hair healthier.
There’s a great giveaway too!
See you over at The Better Mom for more on Why Your Shampoo Might Be Making You Sick!

Great Blog. I love reading all your posts. Always looking for new recipes
Thanks!!
In regards to the no shampoo method, it really isn’t TOO scary!
I’ve been using it for about a year now, and I wouldn’t switch back for anything! It is SO easy and obviously, inexpensive.
I did go through a detox phase that lasted several weeks. During that time, I ‘washed’ every day or every other day and made sure to moisturize, preferably something leave-in, though I haven’t found an inexpensive option for this.
Right now, I’m experimenting with using oils to moisturize. I still keep getting too much, but when I don’t, it’s the best moisturizer I’ve ever used.
I came across a detox recipe for hair on pinterest the other day. You might look that up because it would help the transition away from traditional shampoos much easier on your hair. I would share the link, but I can’t seem to find it!
Thanks, Rebekah! My hair really detoxed when I switched to the natural brand I am using. I couldn’t believe how goofy my bangs were
.
Thank you so much. I love reading your blog. I really like the Celtic knot and The Fairy with Aurora Borealis. My hair is very fine so I would most likely have to use a small. I have not bought any yet. I am not sure if this is where the givaway information goes. But I did share both your lilla rose and better mom on face book, and of course I “liked” them both. But I do not tweet. Thank You again for all your blogging. Smiles
Hi Michele. Please comment on the other blog — but I am so glad to hear you like them and thanks for the kind words
.
So many cute designs!! I love the princess tiara dangle and the antique style with jet dangles. I am not on twitter or facebook so I can’t comment there. I was going to comment on your site but it said my computer was not compatible for comments.
Oh hmmmm….you have to sign in to Disqus to do that. Did you try? Tell me if you can’t. Maybe I can post the comment for you. That might work
. I think the 2nd one you mentioned is the one I typically wear to church:).
hey Adrienne,
you’re having an interesting blog here… lots of good stuff to read about. Just stumbled upon it this week, congrats!
I see you’re writing for other blogs too… would you be willing to write on a tea related site (on a relevant subject?)
thank you!
Hmmm…not sure I’d know what to write and I am quite swamped
.
INterested to hear more on your ideas of hair care … loved the celtic knot clip.
Thanks! I hope to have more posts soon. Did you enter the giveaway?
Thank you for sharing your interests, finds and experiences with me! SMooches and much love!
Thanks!
I gave up on Shampoo last week. Instead I use Baking Soda and Apple Cider Vinegar. For Conditioner I am using Honey. I love it so far. I have wild frizzy hair normally. But since I gave up Shampoo its a whole lot better. Before when I would wake up my hair would look like Kramer, but its more tame now and a lot softer.
How funny. I am very happy w my shampoo but maybe I need to try this. So interesting.
Wow. After a horrific allergic reaction (along with chemical burns!) last month when I had my hair colored, this article could not have come at a better time. I’m good at reading food labels but admit that I slack a little on beauty products. NO MORE! Thank you.
Thanks! There’s more coming…..Working on a hair rinse
.
Thanks, great info
You are so welcome! Icky, huh?
I use the Mexican rag method (not kidding). I wet two washcloths and run them through my hair while standing under the shower water. I’ve been doing this for months. Sometimes I put a tiny bit of tea tree on my scalp to keep it healthy, and sometimes I make a rinse with different herbs.
It is really simple and I’m surprised at how great my hair looks. Anyone who is interested might google it.
That is really interesting. I hadn’t heard of that. Does it really work? I have persnickety hair and I am really happy w/ the shampoo I am using. Have you read a lot about folks doing this? Negative reviews as well? What kind of hair do you have?
I have been using natural shampoo’s for several years now. A lot of them can be misleading, you definititely have to pay attention to the label. Thanks!!! =)
I only use organic shampoo but was really wanting to make my own in the near future. My next project is homemade soap because organic soap is too costly.
Me too! I would love to make soap. I’ve been wanting to for years. I have a great book for it as well.
.
I would like to be entered in the giveaway. I’ve been using baking soda & ACV but I need to try the honey for conditioner!

I love tuning in to you! You have educated me on oils and have read the recipes but have not tried any, YET…as we are doing a home remodel and have no kitchen, YET…it may be a while because WE, are doing it all! ANyway, reading your thoughts and findings really makes me think about my decisions and why I do what I do. Thanks for steering my path in a different direction!
Sincerely,
You are so welcome! What a blessing to know I am helping.
