Free Books, Free Real Food Substitution Chart, 50% off Healthy Living Products and More

Happy Weekend, readers!

I’m back with some more deals for you. There’s another huge grouping of free Amazon Ebooks to keep you informed and busy reading about health and more.

I’ve been wondering about this Kindle and Nook craze.  Do any of you have one?  What do you think?

And then, of course, there’s the whole iPhone, iPad, etc. question.   I have none of them.

Just a dinky old pre-paid cell phone.

I just read my Free Kindle books by downloading Kindle for PC or Mac at Amazon and read them on my computer.  What do you do?

But first, check out this GREAT Real Food Substitution Chart from Kitchen Stewardship!!

  1. Knittinghelp.com is an awesome website for learning how to knit. It’s so much harder to learn fiber arts from books. Videos are wonderful teaching tools – it just makes so much more sense when you can see someone else do it. There are also tons of them on Youtube. So if I wanted to learn to knit, I’d go there before reading a book (not that it would hurt, just not as helpful).

    • Thanks! I am afraid to even dive into this, but I’ve been meaning to for a long time. I did knit for a short time in my youngest days…..I really appreciate this tip! Do you think I should really try this?

  2. Love the freebies! I want to take a look at the healing cancer book as we just found out my mom has cancer last week and my dad died of it 3.5 yrs ago :(

    • Thanks! I thought it was a super good line up this week! Blessings on your mom and you as you seek ideas for healing. A number of my readers mentioned Gerson Therapy when I was reading up on it.

  3. Oh I forgot… I just have a regular old cell phone, no smartphone here. And I use Kindle for PC too, we don’t own a Kindle but my husband really wants one. He’s probably going to use his credit card points to buy one.

  4. Hi Adrienne,
I do not have any of those gadgets either. I have a Razor phone that is a prepaid phone. I do text on it though. Thanks for the free book links to Amazon. I have checked out some already.

    Have a good evening!

    • You’re welcome! I had a little glitch and had to go back in and add more freebies (the post was done yesterday and almost all of the books weren’t free anymore :-( )…..but at least you got the new ones :) .

  5. I have a pre-paid smartphone (not Iphone), have Kindle on my PC only, as most of their free books are not things I want to read although I will re-read an occasional classic book which are generally free through Kindle. I do have the Overdrive library app so you can get ebooks on your phone which I love, love.

I’m very into technology but it has to really serve me, and most of this stuff is more trouble and/or more expensive than it’s worth. I do like my smartphone but don’t need to spend hundreds on it or subscribe to an expensive phone plan to get one.

When tablets come down in price and are really, really good across the board, then I will get one for sure. I had a cheapo one that someone gave me, but more aggravation than it was worth and it finally died (yeah!).

Thanks for this stuff; appreciate your curating the list.

    • What pre paid smartphone do you use? I was just talking w/ someone about this. I would like something that could handle email if possible, w/o tons of extra charges, but it’s not crucial!

      • I use an Android LG Optimus V phone from Virgin Mobil. I’m not sure it’s offered anymore from them, but as you know, the technology just gets better and better, so whatever phones they have now will be as good or better. I check out reviews on CNET and other technology sites for the phones themselves.

If you use Google for email and anything else, the android phone will sync with that just great, so emails would be a breeze. Any smartphone will be capable of letting you handle your emails, it’s just a question of whether or not you get charged for it.

Virgin Mobil uses the Sprint Network which, if good in your area, is excellent as everything is included at no extra charge, including data and messaging (Beyond Talk plans). For me, I use a LOT of data, and they will slow it down if you get beyond a point, but never charge you extra. There are other great pre-paid service providers, but I don’t know about the unlimited data part.

You will pay more upfront for a phone with a pre-paid phone plan (most of the time, although they do have deals also)than with a regular phone plan, and the phones aren’t the latest and greatest, but if you don’t care about that (like me) you don’t have the monthly charges. It just depends on what works for you. Virgin Mobil is also available at RadioShack, Best Buy, etc. I got my phone at a RadioShack as I know one of the guys who works there and he gives me extra special service (like transferring my data, etc.).

While you can find plenty of people complaining about their customer service, I personally find them to be beyond great and I have used them for close to 10 years now. There are a lot of haters on the internet, so I discount a lot of negative talk about anything.

Like I said, I have no vested financial interest in recommending them (although they used to have a refer-a-friend, don’t know if they still have it), but I know that no one else has unlimited data and web even if they have a pre-paid plan which even the majors do like Verizon and ATT. Hope this helps.
