Ok – I know it’s “old news” but two days ago I almost needed paramedic assistance at the gas pump after filling up our tank. My son stood outside watching me pump gas and as the price to fill our tank climbed and climbed, he and I watched in total shock. Makes me want to go everywhere on a bike and never drive. anywhere. again.
Meanwhile, the interest on our “super checking account” has dropped 2% since we opened out account – Sigh.
Wow. I just can’t believe what is happening financially.
I have a lot of thoughts about it, some of which you can see in my post on Inflation – One Way to Beat It. But one thing I know for sure – I need to keep working as the Chief Savings Officer (CSO) of our home to make our dollars stretch.
One of the main ways I do that is by taking advantage of deals like the ones I am sharing with you today.
Enjoy! There are some real good ones this week!
Amazon Deals
It’s another great FREE e-book for your Kindle. (UPDATE – 9/10 – These book prices change suddenly and it is no longer free. Sorry – you really need to jump on these right when you see them. Believe me – I’ve missed plenty of them.
.)Don’t have a Kindle? (I sure don’t -:-)) — just download Amazon’s handy dandy Kindle for PC and you can read the e-book on your computer. And they’ve got Kindle for Mac too!!
Here’s the book:

!).
Cultures for Health
Wanting to make your own yogurt? Get 20% off yogurt starters through September 12 with CODE “Yogurt”. I have been so planning to make Coconut Yogurt! Try their vegan yogurt starter for that! (I once tried making Rice Yogurt without a real starter – NOT a good experience - Blech.)

Vitacost Deals
Like always, there are some great savings on Vitacost. You get $10 off your first order by clicking on my link here – and you always get FREE SHIPPING over $49.
This week, these are just some of the products that I think are worth looking at.
1. Ecover Dishwashing Tablets – Only $3.99 for 25 tablets.
I am still working on figuring out what kind of dishwashing detergent to use. The reviews on these look great! And at this price they’re only $.16 per load. Not bad for high quality! Remember to use my Homemade Dishwasher Rinse Aid to get your dishes super sparkly!
2. Native Forest Organic Coconut Milk – $1.98
I NEVER buy coconut milk – but make Easiest Coconut Milk, but I just might do this to make that Coconut Whipped Cream that you see on the internet all over the place. And this brand has no BPA in the cans!
3. Kirk’s Castille Soap – $.97 for a 4 oz bar.
Super all natural. You know Why I Don’t Make Laundry Detergent but if you are making it, or if you just like a pure natural soap, this is the one for you!
4. Tinkyada Brown Rice Pasta – $2.29 for 16 oz spaghetti style
This is supposedly THE BEST gluten free pasta on the market. Over $4 at our local health food store. What a deal!
10% Almonds w/ No Engine Fuel
Yes – I said engine fuel. You know this is a real pet peeve for me if you’ve been reading this blog for awhile.
You can read my post on Engine Fuel on Your Almonds – and you can get 10% off super delicious almonds at Just Almonds by using CODE WNM.
Well – that’s it. I’m off to read to my son, exercise, and head to our local airport where a wonderful rehab hospital is offering free small craft airplane flights around our city to special needs families. We’re airplane bound!!!
Have a great weekend! Which deal will you be snagging?

The Homemade Health book is only Free if you are an Amazon Prime member. Too bad! It looks interesting, but this CSO can’t justify the money. Maybe I’ll see if my local library has it.
I’m sorry – it was free when I posted it – they change suddenly
.
What a great deal on the salt! My husband still cannot fathom why I buy such expensive salt with “dirt” in it. Thankfully, he lets me do it anyway.
I just went to Amazon to buy the salt and it’s at $7.49 for the 1 lb bag.
Oh shoot – they must have just moved the price up. Are you in the midwest? Maybe you can order from Country Life like I do?
I am in the midwest indeed.
I’ve never heard of Country Life. Fill me in?
Look up Country Life Natural Foods and see if they deliver in your area – $400 free delivery to your door. We have a co op out of my home and have for the past 9 years
.
is there a coupon code for the 20% off on yogurt starters? because it doesn’t seem like they are on sale. thanks!
Yikes! Forgot to include that – you need code “Yogurt”- thanks and I’ll change that right now.
