Taking a brief break from my “Best of 2011″ Series to bring you our growing-better-every-week nourishing blog hop!

I am always so interested in seeing what you have to share – there is always something new to learn.

Make sure you visit someone else’s blog while you are here…. and make sure to check out my Top 10 DIY / “Make Your Own” Posts of 2011.  It’s what I am sharing this week.

Welcome back to our Nutritious and Delicious Linky Blog Hop — Traditional Tuesday!

What is Traditional Tuesday? Well,

  • if you are a blogger, you can share your whole food related tips on this blog and it will be shared on all five blogs
  • if you are a blog reader (I guess we all are, right :-) ?) you can stop by now as well as later to check out the great tips that participating bloggers have to share. And there should be some great stuff, so come back later this week and check it out!

Here is some more specific info:

Traditional Tuesday’s Nutritious and Delicious Blog Carnival is for anything involving traditional foods.

Recipes, techniques, tips, discussions on the hows and whys we do what we do, kitchen organization, appliances used, fitting traditional foods into your life and schedule, anything under the banner of traditional foods is wonderful.

Posts, Facebook pages or websites on the politics of real foods and action alerts for individual states or topics are also welcome.

This blog carnival is hosted by:

KerryAnn @ Cooking Traditional Foods

Jessica @ Delicious Obsessions

Dawn @ Cultured Mama

And… me :D

Here are the Rules :

- If you are linking to a recipe, it must be traditional foods. No white flour, white sugar, yeast, packaged or processed products and the like.

- Please link to your article only and not directly to your blog front page.

- Please place a link back to this post. Place the URL of the carnival post, copied from your browser address bar, at the bottom of your post. A badge is below, if you wish to use that instead. To link back, just edit your post and put a link to this blog post at the very bottom of your post. It’s good etiquette and it helps both of us.

- Links that do not follow these rules will be deleted.

Please note – if you see something that doesn’t fit the mission of this blog, please let me know :-) .

- Linky will stay open from 12:01AM Tuesday to 11:59PM Friday EST.

  1. Happy Tuesday Adrienne,

This week I am submitting a super easy dairy free mushroom soup recipe that takes minutes to create…and soooo tasty! This is also a SCD friendly recipe. :-)

    Have a beautiful week.

    Hugs,
    –Amber

    • Hello Amber! I saw your soup on another blog hop yesterday – I’m not eating mushrooms due to candida, but I love the idea….how about a celery version…or onion….I think it would be great!

    • Hi Adrienne,

Almost forgot dessert! I shared a fun parfait using my sugar free vegan pudding. This parfait highlights my ginger coconut granola recipe. I made it as gifts for the Holiday, and it was a hit. Just had to share! :-)

      Be Well,
      –Amber

      • Amber- that granola looks wonderful! Pity I’m grain free for 2-4 months now :-( . Oh well – I can make it for the rest of the family. Have you ever soaked yours? I think it’s a must w/ oats but I’ve never done it w/ granola.

  2. I hope this falls within the guidelines! Just posted it and realized it might fit. Also, in my yesterday’s post there’s a DIY idea you might appreciate.

    love
    Ela

    • Super recipe, Ela! Of course, it fits! I just bookmarked a few of your recipes for future use! I’ll pop back over for the DIY idea – thanks so much!

    • Ela – where do you get your cocoa butter? And I think in one of your posts (the one you linked to today) it linked to homemade chocolate but the link didn’t appear to be going the right way. I’d love to see your recipe. I have a few recipes but I love seeing what others have made an adjusting to find the best – thanks in advance!

      • Thanks so much, Adrienne!

I will post my carob chocolate recipe tomorrow: it seems like several people have asked for more specifics. Need to stay focused on work today.

I get cocoa butter sometimes from Swanson Vitamins–the Now Foods brand is cheap, is labeled for cosmetics but hexane free and food grade. Or sometimes I pay $15/lb for the good stuff– sources for that are NutsOnline.com, Wilderness Family Naturals, and (if they have a sale), The Raw Food World. There are other sources on Amazon that are inexpensive and look good, but they won’t ship to AK for some reason so I haven’t tried them.
        cheers,
        Ela

        • Hi Ela – Thanks! I would so appreciate it if you would remember to email or contact me with your new recipe. Things are just completely crazy here and I probably won’t have time for much of anything until Friday and I won’t want to miss it! I can’t promise when but I’d love to try your recipe. If you have some other favorites please do share! And I LOVE Now Foods :-) .

  3. Hi,
I shared my Curried Chicken Salad and 8 Reasons to Add Probiotic Foods to Your Diet. Also One New Compelling Reason to Avoid Trans Fats . Also a video for making coconut water kefir.

Join me in my Probiotic Foods Challenge starting January 9 at Real Food Forager!

    http://realfoodforager.com/28-day-probiotic-food-challenge-signup/

    Thanks for hosting!

    • The prolific Jill strikes again! I have a curried salad that I haven’t made in ages! Thanks for the reminder! I need to look at the coconut water kefir video and give it a try. I’ve been meaning too – thanks!

  4. I’m excited to be linking up! I hope the crispy rice cereal is OK? I’m still learning this whole foods thing! For my recipe, use Nature’s Path Crispy Rice :)

    • Hello Jen. I am not sure about the crispy rice – I try not to eat it but it’s tempting. No worries. I’ll just pass it onto the blogger who started the hop and let her decide. I love the idea and the rest of the recipe is fabulous :-) . Glad you stopped by again!

  5. Hi Adrienne! This is my first time to submit to Traditional Tuesdays. Thanks for hosting!

I’ve linked my recipe for Twelfth Night Cake (no white flour, no white sugar) and my recipe for Filets de poisson cardinal, which has fish and shrimp in a tomato sauce.

  6. Hi Adrienne-
Thanks for hosting! We posted Part 2 of our raw milk Q&A session.
Hope your readers find it to be a helpful resource.

    • Thanks, Carolyn! I’m sure they’ll love it – I can’t be a great resource yet as we’ve just started having milk in our home again due to life threatening allergies that my son has :-) .

  7. Hi Adrienne,

Today I’m sharing Healthy Homemade Granola/Cereal that my kids love with raw milk in the mornings or grabbing a handful for an easy snack.

Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup is one of the first recipes I wanted to tackle when my husband went gluten free. It’s so much better than canned!

I also shared how Treating Candida Naturally can be as easy as your herb garden and natural supplements. I wasn’t sure if this fit in the link up. Sorry if it wasn’t a good fit.

    Thanks as always for hosting!

    Paula

    • Paula – there is just too much good to get into. I can’t believe the wealth of good ideas! Wonderful posts – I am excited to try your chicken soup and the granola. We’ve been talking about it – missed if it’s soaked – hope so! The candida is a perfect fit. Anything healthy along real food guidelines. I want to get the word about candida out. Thanks!

  8. Thanks for hosting! Today I posted about how to get the most out of an herbal infusion.

    http://naturallivingsocal.blogspot.com/2012/01/preparing-herbal-teas-infusions.html

  9. Good morning Adrienne, Thanks for hosting another great week. I can’t wait to dig in and check them all out. I’m sharing a post on preserving lemons. Have a great week.

  10. Hi Adrienne, This week I am sharing my Chicken Curry Spaghetti Squash and Creamy Sweet Potato Soup recipes. Happy Tuesday!

  11. Hey there Adrienne! I shared two yummy dinners on our menu for the week:

    http://tessadomesticdiva.blogspot.com/2011/04/oven-fried-chicken.html
    http://tessadomesticdiva.blogspot.com/2011/04/warm-chicken-blt-salad.html

Hope you are doing well in the new year! I am still dreaming of the Almond Joy Bars…but promised I wouldn’t make them until I lost 10 pounds!

    • Looks great! I especially like the CBLT salad! I almost never have bacon but made some this week because it felt like something my body needed. And be gentle about the weight loss. I don’t know if you’ve read my posts. but I’m dealing with the weight issue too and there’s not much I can do about it right now – except learn acceptance and patience.

  12. Whats going with your weight? I am pretty sure there is nothing more than eating too many calories and an aging metabolism with me. I am trying to be patient…b/c even with no baked goods or treats in the house since xmas, and two extra days of vigorous exercise, i have only dropped 2 pounds! I am totally resigned to do it slow if need be, and do my best to quiet that negative self talk….otherwise I’ll just be defeating myself. there is so much more to health than a skinny body.

    • I think it is my really slow metabolism and metal detox – and maybe grains. I was super thin (not icky, but quite thin) this past year and now my pants are tight. I am doing a detox for metals and adrenal burnout and my practitioner says that some people put on weight when they are exposed to toxins. My practitioner, in fact, gained 10 pounds in 2 weeks due to a pesticide exposure. :-( . It is tough – I like what I look like much better thinner, but some of it may drop off. Just not yet. It seems if I stay off grains right now that I do better. If you are getting too tired, be careful w/ the vigorous exercise. It can be rough on the adrenals. I found out the hard way.

  13. In preparation for the GAPS Challenge starting January 15, I am sharing my version of beef stock. It’s also my latest in my REAL FOOD 101 series!

    http://www.ournourishingroots.com/real-food-101-how-to-make-beef-stock/

  14. I’m always looking for ways to do healthy but nutritious foods, I love this resource! I posted a little series I’m doing about teaching out children about Balanced Eating with a quick Fruit Kebab Recipe. Although it’s not fancy it’s a way to have fun with your children in the kitchen.

  15. I just had a birthday celebration at my house, so I made this cake and my little guy was haaaaapy! It’s also GAPS-friendly and grain-free.

    http://www.ournourishingroots.com/yellow-coconut-cake-with-cocoa-buttercream-frosting/

  16. I hesitate to post here because I am not sure what fits the criteria. In my scrambled egg muffins, no flour) there is packaged cheese. Is that all right?

    • Hi Bizzy! Is it processed cheese or just regular cheese? Regular cheese is fine. Processed (like Cheez Whiz or American) wouldn’t be OK. I’d love to see them! I was just talking w/ my youngest about making egg dishes since we love them so much and haven’t had them in the house that much since my oldest has a life threatening allergy to eggs and hubby won’t eat them :-( .
