Well, Thanksgiving is almost upon us and Christmas follows soon after.
If you’re like me, maybe you still have a little thinking to do – about what Holiday recipes you will be making (and eating
!)
We’ve been sick here so I am quite behind on Thanksgiving prep, and still hoping we will be able to enjoy Thanksgiving and dinner with our friends.
Regardless, likely I will make something on this great list!
For me, the Holiday meals always mean turkey, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie, and stuffing, and…and…
not being able to sit comfortably once the meal was over. You too?
Since going whole foods and sugar free, things have changed for the most part.
I still eat a little too much, but that horrible groggy – “I just want to lie in bed the rest of the day” feeling doesn’t really happen anymore.
When you replace all that sugar, white flour, and fake food with wholesome goodness, you can enjoy the bounty of the season while nourishing your body as well.
So – I am thrilled to share with you all some of the recipes that I have my eye on this year from all around the blogosphere:
Side Dishes and Breads
Sauteed Brussels Sprouts with Bacon by The Nourishing Gourmet
We have a favorite way of cooking brussels sprouts here, but I think this recipe would easily take its place!
Mini Pumpkin Cornbread Muffins by Queen of Quinoa
Sub in my Powdered Egg Replacer and candida-friendly sweetener if need be
!
Sugar Free Cranberry Sauce with a Secret Ingredient by Real Sustenance
Mustardy Green Beans with Raisins and Pecans by Daily Bites
Can you tell I have a thing for green beans at Thanksgiving
! Leave the raisins out if you need to, or use unsweetened cranberries.
Yam Casserole with Pecan Streusel from Whole Life Nutrition Kitchen
I would sub in a candida-friendly sweetener for the sweetener and for the orange juice. I am not typically one for sweetened sweet potato dishes, but this one looks great!
Sweet Potato Buns by Diet Dessert N Dogs
What a great alternative to traditional white flour rolls!
Corn-Free Cornbread Muffins by Empowered Sustenance
I shared these on my Facebook page a few weeks ago. Make sure you connect with me there if you haven’t already. I share TONS of stuff I don’t have time to post about
!
Grain Free Stuffing by Deliciously Organic
Looks amazing! Sub in my Powdered Egg Replacer if necessary.
Pancetta, Sprouts & Squash by Whole Lifestyle Nutrition
Moroccan Carrots by Me ![]()
These carrots are just great. Trust me!
Paleo Buttery Garlic Mashed “Potatoes” by Real Sustenance
I love making mashed cauliflower. I’ve used it on top of this Adzuki Bean Shepherd’s Pie. Super creamy and low carb!
Quinoa Stuffing by Queen of Quinoa
Typically my husband doesn’t care for quinoa, but I think he would LOVE this.
Crispy Sweet Potatoes by Simply Sugar and Gluten Free
We LOVE Sweet Potatoes. I love this simple, yet new take on them!
Desserts
Pumpkin Brownie Pie (or tarts) by A Dash of Compassion
Sub in gluten free whole grain flour and a candida-friendly sweetener if necessary.
And you could use my Homemade Chocolate Chips for the chocolate drizzle
!
Dairy Free Pumpkin Cheesecake by Practical Stewardship
I would use an alternate crust to avoid the dates (perhaps this nut crust). Looks great!
Pecan Pie (Grain Free, Paleo) by Deliciously Organic
I haven’t had pecan pie in years! I think my Powdered Egg Replacer or flax or chia gel would sub nicely here.
Pumpkin Lucuma Cheesecake by Sweetly Raw
Heather’s creations are just gorgeous!
I would skip the dates in the crust and replace them with chia and more sweetener, or just do that nut crust from this pie.
Personal Pumpkin Pie by Almonds and Avocados
Again, I would use my nut crust for this to avoid the dates.
Chocolate – Pumpkin Pots de Creme by Diet Dessert N Dogs
Yum! Need I say more?
and our old standby favorite (my son said this is what he wants this year
)…
Pumpkin Snickerdoodles
What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish?

This is such a great list….wish I could eat them all! Ricki’s Pots de Creme caught me eye. I don’t have a dairy-free version of those on my blog yet but I need one.
Thanks for including my crispy sweet potato recipe!
Happy Thanksgiving!

What a fabulous roundup! I live in Canada so have already done the Thanksgiving thing but wish I could do it all over again with these recipes.
Thanks for sharing my pumpkin brownie pie/tarts!
You are so welcome – they look wonderful! Maybe you should do it again!
Quick question…why do you want to avoid the dates?
Too much sugar – they are very bad for those of us w/ candida and/or blood sugar issues
.

I want to make it all too! Thanks for the well wishes. I am a good bit better today. Onward (though I did spend quite a small fortune on herbal remedies, etc. today. Oh the price to avoid antibiotics
).

Yummy, eh? I regret I didn’t include one of yours. Maybe next time
.
Thanks for the super round up. I am giving away two great prizes on my blog: a $50 gift certificate to my favorite jeweler robinsonlane.com and a copy of a new book published by fellow blogger, Kat Robinson. It is called Arkansas Pie: A Slice of the Natural State. I just know you will love either one. http://diningwithdebbie.blogspot.com/2012/11/2012-merry-merry-munchies-3-baked.html Come link up to enter.
