Hi everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to New Year’s.
My wedding anniversary is sandwiched in between (tomorrow) so this season has just a little too much crammed in it for comfort.
Honestly, I have been feeling quite under the weather, so we aren’t doing too much busy celebrating. I appreciate your prayers, if you are so inclined.
Oh – and I would also really appreciate your patience regarding my Best Essential Oils series. I am working on it. I just have to be really careful with my health.
Without health, nothing much matters, eh?
Speaking of health, I’ve been spending a lot on supplements, etc., recently–trying to get over this hump. I am going to have a lot to share when it’s all over about what helped and what didn’t.
In the meantime, I need some deals to stretch our money even more and I’m guessing you would appreciate them too. So here goes…
Here are today’s FREE Kindle Books from Amazon. Loads of them. I always check these books out to make sure that they are something that I would like to read myself. We don’t have time for reading nonsense, right :-)? Found one today with a lot of profanity. Ick. Glad I caught it.
Remember, if you are interested in a book, download it right away. They can switch from FREE to not FREE suddenly. I have even had books change status while writing a post :-(.
And you can read these books even if you don’t have a Kindle. Just download Kindle for PC or Mac at Amazon and read on your computer. Super easy.
Autism – A Practical Guide for Parents
Well written. This book has loads of info. A MUST download in my book. So many are affected by autism. Even if you aren’t directly affected, this book is a must read.
Simple Living – 30 Days to Less Stuff and More Life
This book was included in the Healthy Living Bundle I featured earlier this year. I am not good at some of the “simpler life” but I am trying. Having health and dietary issues makes it harder. This is also a MUST download :-).
Setting Goals – Quick and Easy Worksheet, Theory, and SMART Goals
I am not a big “aim for achievement” person, but I do like the focus on changing your thinking in this book.
Things You Might See – a Rhyming Picture Book for Kids Learning to Read
I have some experience with reading issues in our home and I am for sure going to be using this today.
It’s super cute. Side note: A child who has early trouble with rhyming might have dyslexia.
Tell Your Time
This is a great book about getting your life and time under control. Something we all have trouble with, right?
Another MUST download.
Vinegar Home Health Remedies
I love using vinegar for cleaning and health products. Includes info on how to condition hair, get rid of dandruff, improve skin and feet (including warts), improve dental health, and more.
The First Timer’s Bakebook – Breads and Rolls
This is NOT a whole foodie book, but has loads of super interesting info about baking, tools and what different ingredients do.
There are about 4 of this series free on Amazon today so search for “The First Timer’s” on Amazon in Kindle and you’ll find them all.
The ABC’s of Freezer Cooking
Loads of great info if you would like to try freezer cooking or already do so.
My Best Thai Recipes
I haven’t had much Thai but I would love to try some of these like the Cashew Chicken.
Phytochemicals – What You Should Know – Phytonutrients
These tiny nutrients in fruits and veggies are powerhouses. Come and find out what they do.
Quick and Easy Smoothie Recipes
Basic smoothie recipes if you are tired of the same old every day.
30 Daily Weight Loss Tips
I don’t agree with everything in here (low fat milk and such) but there are some great looking exercises and some helpful tips.
I featured this on my Facebook page yesterday. I LOVE making pretty much everything from scratch and this book will help you get there too. There are some recipes calling for processed foods, and I can’t vouch for how tasty they will be, but this is a great starting point at least. I consider this to be a must download.
Great book about kicking the sugar habit.
100 Delicious Paleo Diet Recipes
Some of the titles don’t make sense but these recipes look great!
30 Days of Amazing Paleolithic Lunches
Another drool worthy book. YUM!
30 Days of Amazing Paleolithic Breakfasts
30 Days of Amazing Paleolithic Dinners
The Amazing Paleolithic Cookbook
Over 120 Gluten Free Paleo Recipes
All 4 of these are from the same series. Might be this is the grand total but I am not sure.
Cure Sore Throats, Coughs, and Colds with Cayenne Pepper
I used cayenne a month ago when I was super sick. It really worked! There are more health benefits in this book as well.
80 Delicious and Healthy Vegetarian Recipes
I’m not a fan of the “vegetarian meats” used some here, but a lot of the recipes have an Indian bent which I LOVE. If you do too, this is a keeper.
How to Compost
Yes. Yes. And Yes. Download this. We sort of have compost going but it needs more attention.
I hope this helps.
I had to include this. Tolkien is an amazing author. I downloaded this to share with my boys. They are avid readers and I think this will spur their interest in this great author.
Tropical Traditions is having a very rare sale right now.
Through Thursday, January 3, their 5 gallon buckets of Gold Label Coconut Oil are on sale 46% off. This makes it a super reasonable $39.96 per gallon. Amazing.
They also have these other great sales:
- Organic Coconut Oil Package – 1 gallon Gold Label and 1 gallon expeller pressed coconut oil for $116.
- 32 oz Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil for only $19
- 5 gallons Organic Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil for only $155 – that’s just $31 per gallon!
- 5 gallons non certified Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil for only $135! (This is the oil I use all the time for baking and cooking. The coconuts are grow in an area without pesticides. No certification for organic standards, but I consider the quality to be pretty good.)
Through Sunday, Dec 30, Tropical Traditions’ Palm Shortening is on sale for 42% off – just $23.59.
This is a super time to stock up! I buy most of my coconut oil in 5 gallon buckets to save money.
Vitacost has become one of my favorite places to shop for supplements, health foods and health products.
You can check out their savings page here that is stocked full of great deals.
New shoppers at Vitacost get $10 off their order of $30 or more.
Not new to Vitacost? I would so appreciate you starting your shopping by clicking here. I get a teeny kickback which helps keep this blog going. Thanks in advance!
All shoppers get Free Shipping over $49.
Some of my favorite deals are:
- Ecover dishwashing tablets (I love these. One reader said she had plumbing issues from these, but I can’t find evidence of this on the internet. Not sure what to think.)
- Tinkyada pasta – Just $2.24 for one pound of some of the best-tasting GF pasta around.
- Kirk’s Castille Soap – just $.92 for a 4 oz bar
- Nature’s Forest Organic Coconut Milk – $1.84 for a can. No BPA in these. I just make my own coconut milk but if you need a backup this is a great option.
- Hyland’s Calms Forte – Sleep Aid – I’ve heard good things about this and have enjoyed one of their other products. Just $5.32
- Bach’s Rescue Remedy – Just $10.08 for a spray bottle. This takes the edge off stressful situations. I really like this product. One of my friends swears by it for her panic attacks.
- Yogi’s Chamomile Tea – $2.49 for 16 bags. I have found that chamomile really helps me sleep.
- Alba’s Unpetroleum Jelly – Just $2.66
There are loads more deals. We have bought sardines, good quality protein powders….you name it. Vitacost likely has a deal on it.
Which deal appeals to you most? Please share.
