Allergy Free Recipes

Welcome back to another week of Allergy Free Wednesdays!

A week of yumminess that is aimed at making it easier for you to create healthy, allergy free foods for you and your family.

As I mentioned, this past week, there is no “clear rule” against including processed ingredients in your submission (but we hope you are moving in that direction :-) ).  So…occasionally you will find some “whole foodie undesirables” in the entries.

What to do if you see processed foods and don’t want them?:

So—-welcome to Allergy-Free Wednesdays (AFW).  AFW is a weekly blog hop where folks can share their allergy-free cuisine, gain knowledge about allergy-related topics/issues, and connect with others living or caring for someone with food allergies.

Your weekly submissions will be shared on 7 blogs!  Additionally, each hostess will feature a favorite recipe(s) from the week before.  Please visit each blog to see their features!  Your hostesses are:

Wondering What You Can Link Up on Allergy Free Wednesday?

Basically anything that is fitting for an allergy free diet in some way (we’re not that strict).
Every week I write my own substutions for the week’d favorites to help you along a bit.
For the complete rules, click here.
Here goes – starting off with my favorites–and you should check out the other hostesses’ posts to see if you were featured there!

My Favorites from Last Week (with substitution ideas)~

Cookie Dough Balls from Veggie V
Might use the protein powder…might not.  This is the brand I use now.

Cookie Dough Dessert

Chocolate Almond Flour Pancakes from Coconut Mama
I’d have to try these with my Homemade Egg Replacer for my son who is deathly allergic.  Probably won’t work but worth a try!

Grain Free Pancakes

and finally,

Grain Free Pumpernickel Bagels from Cuter than Gluten
Again, I’m pretty sure these won’t work with just my Homemade Egg Replacer, but I’ll just have to take a run at it!

Gluten Free Bagels

and Readers’ Favorites

The Perfect Frozen Banana from A Life Unprocessed
No subs needed here :-) !

How to Freeze Bananas

Strawberry Frozen Yogurt by The Not So Super Mama
I’m still hoping to really make Coconut Yogurt – then I will sub that :) !

Frozen Yogurt Recipe

Zippy Garlic Crackers from Discovering the Extraordinary
No subs here either!  What a great recipe!!!

Grain Free Crackers

I can’t wait to see what you all have this week!

  2. Adrienne, thank you so much for featuring my pancakes! Almond flour is tough without eggs, huh. I learned that the hard way, trying to sub it one for one in a vegan bread. It was more like bread PUDDING! Ha! Have you had any luck with it in baked goods? Thanks for hosting!

    • I found a great rolled cookie dough but it didn’t call for eggs in the first place. Just getting started w/ almond flour. I’ve seen some recipes but haven’t tried them. I’d like to not bake during the summer….but pancakes are an option :-) .

  3. I shared a tip for saving money on meat costs. The post is about using sprouted lentils to replace some of the meat in a recipe. I’ve also included some surprising info on using raw sprouts.

  4. This week I’m sharing my post on how my son had his Golden Birthday. I also talk about our family tradition of having the Birthday Fairy visit, and I give my recipe for Yellow Butter Cake with Vanilla-Honey Buttercream.

I’m also putting on my Nerd Hat to talk about stress, the sympathetic nervous system, cortisol, and other culprits that might be making you fat. (But, as usual, I don’t engage in sizism, and I use the word “fat” as a neutral descriptor.)

  5. Yea! I’m psyched that you liked my cookie dough balls! One tiny thing…it’s VeggieV (not veganv) – but the link works, so it’s all good :-D

I love the awesome mix of recipes on AFW!

    Thanks again!!

  6. Thank you for featuring my grain-free bagels. My brand-new baby blog benefited from the traffic! I just wanted to let you know I tried the recipe with flax meal replacing the eggs (1 tablespoons per egg plus water) and they came out pretty good. I need to add a bit of leavening and perhaps a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to help it rise. Still experimenting.

    • You’re welcome!! Thanks for the update and I’d love to hear if you come up w/ a real winner. Thanks – my kids haven’t had bagels in years.
