Double Chocolate Cookie Bars, Dairy Free Ricotta, Dairy Free Cheesecakes and More!

Allergy Free Recipes Welcome back to another week of Allergy Free Wednesdays! A collection of yumminess that is aimed at making it easier for you to create healthy, allergy free foods for you and your family. There is no “clear rule” against including processed ingredients in your submission (but we hope you are moving in that direction :-) ). So…occasionally you will find some “whole foodie undesirables” in the entries. What to do if you see processed foods and don’t want them?:

So—-welcome to Allergy-Free Wednesdays (AFW). AFW is a weekly blog hop where folks can share their allergy-free cuisine, gain knowledge about allergy-related topics/issues, and connect with others living or caring for someone with food allergies. Your weekly submissions will be shared on 7 blogs! Additionally, eachhostess will feature a favorite recipe(s) from the week before. Please visit each blog to see their features! Your hostesses are:

Wondering What You Can Link Up on Allergy Free Wednesday?

Basically anything that is fitting for an allergy free diet in some way (we’re not that strict).
Every week I write my own substutions for the week’d favorites to help you along a bit.
For the complete rules, click here.
Here goes – starting off with my favorites–and you should check out the other hostesses’ posts to see if you were featured there!

My Favorites from Last Week (with substitution ideas)~

Peaches ‘N’ Cream Cake from Sweetly Raw
Yum – what a wonderful looking cake!  I would use a candida-friendly sweetener like xylitol and/stevia, and actually we aren’t eating much fruit.  But I will be willing to try this or even try it with something like pumpkin!  And make sure you read how to make Homemade Coconut Butter if you are going to make this recipe!!

Dairy-Free Cheese Cake

Raw Cherry “Cheese” Cake from The Tasty Alternative
I am a real sucker for these “cheesecakes”!  I’d need to use a crust with no dates like the one in my Chocolate Silk Pie.  Doesn’t this look great!?

Dairy-Free Cheese Cake

and finally,

Ricotta “Cheese” (Dairy, Soy, and Nut-Free) from Cooking Gluten (& Dairy) Free
I’m thinking I am going to try this with my Easiest Coconut Milk – Can’t wait to try it!!

Dairy-Free Cheese

and Readers’ Favorite

From this week on we’re going to save a little time by just featuring the top readers’ favorite.

Double Chocolate Cookie Bars (GF, DF, and V) from Not Missing a Thing
I’d be using my Homemade Chocolate / Carob Chips, a candida friendly sweetener (like xylitol and stevia), and I’d probably use all whole grains and carob, but these look yummy!

Guten-Free Chocolate Cookies

I can’t wait to see what you all have this week!

  2. Hi Adrienne,

Thanks for featuring my “cheese” cake. :-)

I made the second version yesterday (using soaked cashews). I like version #2 better. I will be posting about that soon.

Hope you’re having a great week.

    Hugs,

  3. I’m loving these dairy substitutes!! I need to do a dairy-free trial to see if I feel better, but have definitely been dragging my feet in that area. Now I have good looking recipes for ricotta cheese, yogurt, and cheddar style cheese…all with coconut milk. I’m actually looking forward to going dairy free now. :)

    • I think they are great too. I’d love to see the coconut milk you found!

      • Haha, nothing fancy about the coconut milk – it’s just all of the great recipes I’ve found from you fantastic bloggers!! The coconut milk I keep stocked is Trader Joe’s in case you were wondering. ;) (I make a lot of my own stuff, but I’m just not up to doing all of the coconut milk yet.)

  4. Hi Adrienne,

  5. Hi Adrienne,
I want to try the ricotta cheese using coconut milk but I have no agar flakes. Have you tried making this with gelatin? thanks, love your site!

    • I haven’t used agar that much but I have read you can substitute agar powder 1:1 for gelatin. Thanks for the kind words. I’d love to hear how you like it. I’m looking into another vegan cheese book that looks very promising!
